LMIA
Obtaining a Labour Market Impact Assessment, or LMIA as it is popularly known as, is the first step for many employers to be able to hire Temporary Foreign Workers. This is true for a wide variety of positions, including:
High and low-wage positions
Primary agriculture positions
Global Talent Stream
Caregiver positions
Academic positions
Applications to support Permanent Residency
Hiring in the province of Quebec
The Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) is intended to be used when an employer is facing short-term skills and labour shortages, and only when no Canadians and permanent residents are available.
For each kind of the above-mentioned positions, there are specifications for the prospective employers regarding:

Recruitment and advertisement
Wages
Job duties and working conditions

Workplace safety
Employment agreement
Language of work
Unionized positions
Employers seeking TFWs also have certain compliance obligations. As an employer, you must:

annexes to the decision letter

documents related to the LMIA
documents related to the conditions set out in the IRPR
